Lord Capulet

Dear Agony Aunt

I really want my daughter to marry a man I have chosen for her, but she’s refusing! This marriage is very important to my family as he is a very rich man. I believe a child should obey their parents so how can I make her listen to me?

Comments

  1. take a moment to think do you really think that he is the one for Juliet talk to her see how she feels about it then make up your mind

  2. Do you love money more than your daughter? Can you ask yourself to compare two so very different things? She will love you, not because of who you pick for her but, because you stay next to her through every decision. And she will cherish that.

Introduction

I am Lord Capulet, the husband of Lady Capulet and the father of Juliet. I am the head of the Capulet family and have an on-going feud with the head of another family, Lord Montague. I am looking to find a husband for my daughter and consider a nobleman, Paris, to be the worthiest suitor. However, since the tragic death of her cousin, Tybalt, Paris fears that Juliet has become immersed in her grief and is therefore unable to be wooed. I reassure Paris that, as her father and the head of the household, it is Juliet’s duty to obey me and marry the man of my choosing. Eventually Juliet relents and I get to work on preparations for the wedding day. On the morning of the big day the Nurse finds Juliet dead in her bed. I am distraught and overcome with grief as we lay Juliet to rest in the family tomb. I am later called to the tomb again, where I find out the truth about my daughter’s marriage to Romeo and their tragic deaths. This double tragedy finally brings Lord Montague and I together and we make a vow of peace.
